YouthBuild Lakeland, Welcome

YouthBuild- Lakeland was founded in 2007 in the effort to help young adults, 16 to 24 years of age, who have dropped out of high school and want to work towards improving their lives. While in the six-month program, participants receive academic support through classroom instruction to prepare them to receive their GED or high school diploma. In addition, participants engage in hands-on training in construction where they help to build properties for the Lakeland Housing Authority.

We also place a strong emphasis on career, personal, and leadership development through job readiness workshops, partnerships, and case management.

YouthBuild Lakeland participants gathered on a work site, graduates in caps and gowns, a participant working in the computer lab, a classroom study session, and forklift operation training.

During the program, participants have an opportunity to earn a variety of workforce certifications. We offer certifications in Basic Forklift Operation, OSHA- 10, Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, and more. Participants also earn a stipend while attending the program.
