Our society is being driven by credit components. An individual must have credit to rent a car, purchase items on the internet, rent an apartment, obtain utility service, purchase a home, purchase a car and apply for a car insurance policy. The effects of not using credit wisely can be devastating for financial well-being. Thus, the Lakeland Housing Authority (LHA) implemented a homeownership program to provide homeownership opportunities for low-income and single-income families in Polk County.

We acquire, develop and build affordable housing for low-income and/or single-income families in Polk county. (Take a look at two example here!) A major component of our homeownership program is the down payment assistance of up to $70,000* per qualified applicant. In addition, the Lakeland Housing Authority (LHA) has partnered with local lending institutions to provide first mortgages for qualified applicants.
